project artists: Peter Kozma, Zoltán Ferenczi
Context: This project represents a phase in the aesthetic and conceptual preliminary study for a tower block being built by Raiffeisen Bank. Presented as part of the “Month of Architecture”, it features a vertical light installation stretching above the city, juxtaposed with its environment, the urban texture, and its inhabitants.
“The project is an artistic attempt to step out of the existing, well-defined height of the urban skyline. Due to current regulations, the silhouette of Budapest acts as an imaginary horizontal plane spreading over the city at a fixed height.
The aim of the experiment is to examine the hidden potentials revealed by breaking through this plane at an arbitrary point in the city, and to think in a previously unobserved dimension. Through the dynamics of spectator interaction, the project also symbolizes an open discussion about the cityscape.”
From a prosaic point of view, it is a virtual-real elevator conquering the “y+” dimension of space, demonstrating the true vertical potential of a Budapest building plot.
